Each ManiaMania collection of jewellery is accompanied by a description of its inspirations that’s just about as mystical and cryptic and open to interpretation as the jewellery itself. Reliably there’s some inspiration drawn from the hippie days of the ‘60s and ‘70s. If it’s a fascination with spiritualism or surrealism or religious cult it’s the fascination revived from the way it was in those free-loving hippie days. Even the Art Nouveau influence working its way through the recent ‘The Astral Plane’ collection is a revival of the ’60s revival of Art Nouveau – not a revival of the original movement.
